Dubai to Abu Dhabi is one of the most common longer journeys in the Emirates. It is long enough that the car matters, and there are two quite different ways to book it.
One way, or the whole day?
A one-way trip outside Dubai is quoted as a fixed rate. It suits a transfer from DXB straight to an Abu Dhabi hotel, or a single meeting where you will make your own way back.
A full day in Abu Dhabi is billed by the hour and includes the drive there and back. The car stays with you between appointments, which makes more sense when you have several meetings or need to be back in Dubai the same evening.

How long the drive takes
The drive usually takes between one and a half and two hours, depending on where you start in Dubai, where you are going in Abu Dhabi and the time of day. Allow longer at weekday peak hours.
Choosing a car for the drive
On a longer journey, the rear seat matters more.
